Botanical Extracts

* Acai Berry (ah - sigh - EE) - Grown in the Brazilian rainforest, the acai berry has the highest per unit value of antioxidant power than any other fruit, including pomegranate and blueberry. Antioxidants are substances such as Vitamins C, E, A, and phytosterols, which can protect cells from the damaging effects of free radicals. Free radicals, molecules produced by the body during metabolism, or by exposure to environmental factors like smoke and radiation, can cause premature aging of skin, cancer and other diseases. Acai berry is also rich in essential fatty acids omega-3, -6, and -9, which are important for maintaining skin integrity.

* Goji Berry - One of the richest sources of antioxidant vitamins B1, B2, B6, E and one of the best sources of Vitamin C; contains over 18 different amino acids which are important natural moisturizing factors.

Bamboo - Natural alternative to silicone, imparts silky feel to skin. Strong antioxidant protection and aids in repairing damaged skin by stimulating cell proliferation.

Exotic Butters

*Cupuacu Butter (coo - poo - wah - SOO') - Obtained from the fruit seed of the Cupuacu tree in the Brazilian rainforest, it has a high capacity for water absorption (440%) and is therefore a long lasting moisturizer and excellent emollient. Reduces degeneration of the skin cells and restores flexibility, moisture retention and elasticity to the skin.

Murumuru Butter - Also from the Brazilian rainforest, the seed of the Murumuru fruit produces a butter with high moisture binding properties, similar to lanolin, which helps the skin retain water by creating a protective film. The rich oleic acid content also aids the moisture retention and nurtures the skin with vitamins and minerals.

Mango Butter - From the rainforests of India and Malaysia, mango butter is high in unsaponifiables (phytosterols and vitamins) which impart emolliency, wound healing and regenerative capabilities. Also helps to protect the skin against UV radiation.

* Cocoa Butter - Reduces dryness and improves skin elasticity. Has natural emolliency, anti-oxidant and moisturizing characteristics.

* Shea Butter - Nourishes dry skin with Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids, leaving it soft and supple.

Natural Oils

Grapeseed Oil - Rich in Vitamin E and omega-6 (linoleic) fatty acids. Has regenerative and restructuring properties which moisturize the skin and help maintain normal cell structure. With high levels of tannins it has natural astringent, skin tightening properties.

Evening Primrose Oil - Highly concentrated source of gamma-linoleic acid, an omega-6 essential fatty acid with anti-inflammatory properties. Conditions and restores moisture to the skin.

* Hemp Seed Oil - One of the driest natural oils with rapid skin absorption, due to the unusually high content ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids, which most closely reflects the skin's lipid profile. An excellent emollient.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil - An excellent oil for skin due to its outstanding oxidative stability, lubricity and ability to remain on skin with a non-greasy, luxurious feel. A superior emollient amongst natural oils.

*Sunflower Seed Oil - An abundant source of Vitamins E, B1, B5 and B6 among others; an excellent source of magnesium, copper, tryptophan and zinc. This highly stable oil is readily absorbed by the skin and helps to retain moisture.

Sweet Almond Oil - Provides essential fatty acids that help repair the skin's moisture barrier.

*Jojoba Oil - Very similar to human sebum, thus able to effectively penetrate the skin and reduce water loss, leaving a soft and supple feel.

Orange Oil - Reduces puffiness and discourages dry wrinkled skin. Used to stimulate circulation and assist the release of toxins from dull or blemished skin.

Eucalyptus Oil - Is said to be analgesic, antibacterial and anti inflammatory in nature. It provides a cooling and refreshing effect. Camphoraceous odor and a woody sweet undertone. Helpful with soar joints and muscles.

Ylang Ylang - Is said to calm irritated skin; its light fragrance aids in elevation of stress and anxiety.

Vetiver Oil - Made from the roots of the herb grown in Haiti. Has an earthy aroma with a touch of lemon. It is said to provide stimulation to the endocrine glands and circulator system.

Thyme Oil - One of the most potent anti-bacterial and anti-fungal essential oils known.

Patchouli Oil - Derived from a bush native to southeast Asia and is used widely as a massage oil and is an effective moisturizer. Known for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities.

Spearmint Leaf Oil - Helps ease pain of strained muscles. Eucalyptus Oil - Camphoraceous odor and a woody sweet undertone. Helpful with soar joints and muscles.

Soybean Oil - Contains components such as lecithin which is used as a skin softener and is more gentle to sensitive skin.

Cedarwood Oil - Recognized for its purifying properties, soothes musle pain. Is known for its anti-fungal and anti-infectious properties.

Lemon Oil - Induces a feeling of lightness and freshness, feel energized and helps improve concentration.

Sage Oil - Known for its anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Peppermint Oil - Fresh scent can energize a person instantly. Leaves a refreshing sensation on the skin.
